Wetting (also referred as 'peeing self') is the act of urinating on oneself while wearing clothes that will get stained or soaked with said urine. Wetting, alongside holding, is the main focus of omorashi. The sexual arousal someone feels towards it can both occur while wetting themselves or witnessing someone else wetting themselves.
In many social cases, the act of wetting oneself is seen as degrading, humiliating, or even infantile, and can therefore be considered a social transgression. Whether the sexual attraction towards omorashi is linked to this social transgression or not can vary depending on the cases, as certain omorashi artworks will also display socially accepted or diregarded wettings.
Nature of wetting
The act of wetting can happen in varying situations and can provoque different emotions, both for the person performing the act and for the eventual public witnessing it.
Accidental wetting
In many cases in omorashi, the act of wetting will be accidental and result from failing at holding it in. In most of these cases, the urination can either come out uncontrollably in spurts or leaks of varying duration and strength, or come out in one long and steady stream after the person holding gives up and lets go (because the act of holding becomes too painful or complicated). The reason for which the person having an accident did not use a bathroom to relieve themselves earlier varies depending on the scenario occuring.
The failure at holding it in can be the consequence of some type of bodily long or short-term condition. Undergoing some type of physical stress, such as exercising, sneezing or being tickled can provoke muscles spasm favourable to accidents. In the case of incontinence, where the person holding will have a long-term reduction of control over their bladder, the wetting might occur without anticipation by the person performing it, and without prior acts of holding.
Having an accident can also happen because of some psychological lack of awareness. The most common trope in this category is being asleep, but there are also wetting situations where the person wetting themselves is drunk or undergoing hypnosis.
The most common emotion that occurs during accidental wettings is embarrassment, which can be associated with anger or crying. The eventual witnesses' reaction can range from mockery, to disgust, to pity.
Voluntary wetting
There exists cases in which the wetting can happen on purpose. In most artworks, these scenarios will mostly focus on the character choosing to pee themselves because they have an omorashi kink and are sexually aroused by it.
Voluntary wettings can be depicted in some non-sexual circumstances too. A few examples of non-sexual voluntary wetting tropes are being dared to pee yourself, a lack of shame related to the act of wetting, or even wetting as an act of defiance.
Exposure while wetting
The degree of exposure undergone by the person going through an accident can vary on different factors, including but not limited to the social context in which the wetting is happening, or what clothes are being soaked. It is needless to mention that the degree of exposure will heavily influence on the type of emotional response expressed by the person wetting themselves.
Social contexts of wetting
The different social contexts in which the wetting can happen make for a large panel of omorashi tropes to be used.
Wetting oneself can happen in public, in which case it is both possible to be seen by all or not (certain types of wettings will include the person wetting themselves trying to do it as discreetly as possible, see Stealth Wetting). This can happen in many different places, for example in the street or in public transports.
It is also possible for a character to pee themselves at the sight of a few intimate people (like friends or romantic partners), in which cases the trusted witnesses might try to reassure the person wetting themselves, or be aroused by it.
There exists cases in which the character pee themselves in private at the sight of no one else (at home, for example). When that happens, they will most commonly either be frustrated or ashamed at themselves for doing so.
Clothings for wetting
The clothes that are being worn during the wetting can make for a more discreet or noticeable wetting.
The colours of the clothes being wet play a big part in the discreetability: light colours will tend to make the wetting more noticeable by having a highly-contrasted dark patch or wet trail down the legs fabric, while darker clothes will tend to make the peeing less easily noticeable.
The nature of the clothes worn are also be a key factor in discretion: while pants go easily noticed, it is possible for a character to wet themselves while wearing a skirt or a dress, in which case only the underwear will get soaked and only a discreet trail down the skin of the legs and the formation a puddle at the feet will allow the character to get caught. A common trope in omorashi is wearing diapers for discretion.
If a character is wearing nothing on their lower body, it might happen that the wetting only shows on a top piece of clothing, such as the bottom of a t-shirt.
There exists cases in which the clothes worn are already wet before the urination occurs. This can happen because of the rain, or because the clothing in question is a wet swimwear, which makes for a more stealthy wetting.
